| Kevin
loves dogs. It shows in his dedication and his success.
He competes at the National level
with the German Shepherds. One of Kevin's dogs astonished an
international audience at the World Championships for German
Shepherd Dogs when she ran onto the field, grabbed the bad guy and
hung in the air by her teeth...not a German Shepherd, but
rather, his Jack Russell Terrier, Eliza.
Kevin wakes up in the morning
thinking about training; how to do it better, how to
improve. He falls asleep the same way.
Kevin has been involved in this field for more than
16 years. From 1991-1995 he worked as an apprentice at Canine College in Boston, Massachusetts with owners Bruce and Karen Billings, AKC judge. They worked together handling German Shepherds and Rottweilers for confirmation and obedience.
He went then to Canine Concepts in Springville, Alabama, where he trained extensively with patrol and narcotics dogs and in the sport of Schutzhund. Kevin also trained with K-9 East in Boston, Massachusetts, with search and rescue dogs. He utilized this training while working at North Carolina Outward Bound School, handling a search and rescue dog.
Kevin has trained his German Shepherd, Colby, from a companion dog title to the level of Schutzhund
III. Achievement is testament to the fact that Colby is one of the finest female sport dogs in the USA. Currently Kevin and Colby finish 17th out of 84 dogs in 2001 National Schutzhund Championships, scoring 96 points out of 100 in protection.
Kevin is currently showing a male named Dralion that he bred from his female Colby and Champ vom Barenfang.
Kevin raised and trained Dralion to a Schutzhund 3 dog.
Dralion & Kevin recently qualified for the Schutzhund 3 National Championships.
Dralion score was 100-96-95.Watch for them in Reno NV. on Oct. 31st - Nov.
